October's Bright Blue Weather
Shady Grove
October 2023
Waded through poison oak while visiting the grove.
As yet, too early for fall color.
Submerged leaves a pattern in decay.
Slow current traps drifting leaves.
Current picks up, flows faster, oxygenating water.
Tiny mosquito larvae lean into current foraging for food.
Water Striders' feet "air cushioned" to stay afloat.
These insects prey on mosquito larvae.
Discovered a couple of Alder saplings had taken root in rock.
Winter storm flow will dislodge them.
Creek bed often attracts butterflies.
Looking forward to autumn colorizing this scene.
